Blissful Bowls
Summary
Blissful Bowls is the culmination of a rigorous undergraduate capstone project exploring how strategic branding can serve as a powerful tool for public health and food allergy awareness. Grounded in extensive quantitative and qualitative research, the project resulted in the complete conceptualization of an allergen-friendly fruit bowl café.
The final phase involved translating this research-backed brand into a physical gallery installation, supported by an array of educational print materials and brand ephemera designed to engage and inform the public.
Solutions
The design solution shifts the narrative around food allergies from anxiety and restriction to safety and celebration. By creating a warm, vibrant, and highly approachable visual system for a fruit bowl café, the branding eliminates the clinical, sterile feeling often associated with allergen-friendly dining.
The brand structure relies on absolute transparency. I used clear typography systems, intuitive layout hierarchies, and distinct visual cues to make ingredient sourcing and allergen safety instantly digestible for the consumer. For the gallery showcase, I scaled this flat identity into a three-dimensional experience, building a physical exhibit that immersed viewers into the café environment. The accompanying materials—such as educational brochures and tactile giveaways—acted as physical extensions of the brand, successfully bridging the gap between rigorous academic research and high-end commercial design.
Deliverables
Branding Guidelines, Primary and secondary logo marks, custom allergen iconography systems, typography guidelines, and an intentional, vibrant color palette. The physical layout, environmental graphics, and structural assembly of the pop-up café showcase for the capstone exhibition. Editorial brochures breaking down food allergy statistics and the café's safety mission, designed with a focus on clean information hierarchy.A suite of promotional touchpoints including custom awareness stickers, branded packaging mockups, and exhibit takeaways.
My Role
I managed the entire lifecycle of this capstone project. My responsibilities included authoring the formal research proposal, conducting multi-method brand research (demographic data analysis, self-ethnography, and competitor profiling), creating the complete visual identity, and physically designing and fabricating the gallery exhibition space.
